A liquid facelift is a cosmetic procedure that utilizes dermal fillers to plump up the skin. It reduces sagging and facial wrinkles, fills the cheeks if they look hollow or gaunt and tightens wrinkles around the forehead, eyes and lips.The patient is given injections of dermal fillers to restore the fullness and youth to their face.

How long does a liquid facelift last?

Results from a liquid facelift are long-lasting but not permanent. They tend to last between 6 to 8 months, and with certain filler types can last as long as 24 months.

The entire procedure is often started and completed in a single 30 - 60 minute session, with a possible follow up visit to ensure all is settling well. Because it can be completed so rapidly, it is often referred to as the “lunchtime lift.”

The patient and practitioner also have a range of dermal fillers to choose from, each with their own specialties. For example, patients will see immediate results from hyaluronic acid fillers, while for Poly-L-lactic fillers, the injections are spread out over a series of visits and results will come in over a short time and then last as long as 24 months.

What is the Recovery Time After a Liquid Facelift?

Unlike a traditional facelift, there is almost no recovery time required after a liquid facelift. A few hours after the procedure, you should be able to continue your normal routine and be back to work the following day. Patients typically experience minor swelling right after the procedure, which should calm down within a few hours.

Are There Any Side Effects?

The liquid facelift is typically done under local anesthesia or nerve blocks, so extreme pain is unlikely. Patients should expect mild pain and some swelling and redness after the procedure. The swelling and redness rapidly dissipate within 2-3 hours. Along the jawline, cheeks and nasolabial folds, patients are unlikely to experience significant bruising, while n the under eyes, bruises are more common.
