Labiaplasty

Labiaplasty, also known as to Labia Sculpting, is one of the most inquired procedures to reduce the size and reshape the appearance of your internal labia. After childbirth, and sometimes even in women who have not had children, the inner labia are enlarged. This can lead to visible excess skin which is unsightly or uncomfortable with sport or sexual activity. For today’s woman, the primary reasons for this procedure, is seeking the changes of their appearance, and to relieve the discomfort of excess skin and tissue in the area.

Dr. Schwartz is an expert in Labiaplasty. His technique uses a “wedge excision” of the most redundant and visible portion, ensuring minimal, if any, external scarring.

Labiaplasty Procedure

Labiaplasty is designed to reduce enlargement of the labia minora while at the same time preserve the aesthetic appearance. This allows minimal scarring and discomfort. The excess skin is trimmed using a wedge or pie shaped excision which is mostly hidden inside the labia majora. This prevents the scar from being exposed on the outside of the vagina where it is more visible and sensitive.

This state of the art surgical center provides the highest standard of care, safety and privacy. Dr. Schwartz also has privileges to perform procedures at Los Robles Regional Medical center, Thousand Oaks Surgical Hospital, and both St. Johns Regional Medical center, and Pleasant Valley Hospitals.

ANESTHESIA – Labiaplasty is performed with general anesthesia. Dr. Schwartz only works with Board Certified Physician (M.D.) anesthesiologists who are always present for your entire procedure.

Labiaplasty Recovery

Labiaplasty usually requires 1-2 hours of surgery as an outpatient. You will be seen the second or third day after surgery, and can usually shower at that time. Many patients will only require Motrin or Advil for pain control, but stronger medications are available if needed. Patients will need to refrain from all sexual activity for 6 to 10 weeks to allow the area to heal safely. You may resume normal exercise within 2-3 weeks.
