BeforeAfterBOTOX® Cosmetic, sometimes called “a facelift in a bottle”, is a purified protein. When small doses are injected directly into the muscles, impulses from the nerves to the injected muscle causing the wrinkles are blocked – allowing them to relax. This relaxing of the muscle allows the skin to smooth out persistent lines that which developed over time.
BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments usually last about 10-15 minutes and keep the muscles that cause lines relaxed for 3 months.
The treatment takes three to ten days to take full effect.
Dysport®
This year, Dysport®, a new injectable product was approved for use by the FDA in the United States. It is similar to BOTOX®, but the injection techniques and doses are slightly different. Dysport® seems to have a faster onset of action, and spreads a bit more that BOTOX®. It has been shown to last just as long, and is priced slightly lower. Dr. Schwartz and his staff have had excellent results with this new product.
